Springtime in Provence is all lavender fields and wildflowers. Summer is sunshine on rugged hillsides and walks through lush fields. But autumn is perhaps the most magical time of all. Grapes are harvested, the crowds depart, chestnuts roast in the village markets – and truffiers seek out one of the world’s greatest and most enigmatic delicacies: the truffle.
This November, the Hotel Crillon le Brave will reprise its popular Truffle Weekends over two long weekends (Nov. 1-4, and 15-18). Over the course of the weekend, guests will have the opportunity to participate in four events: a visit to one of the finest vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a truffle cooking demonstration with in-house Chef Philippe Zemour, a visit to the renowned antique markets of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, and a truffle hunting excursion with an expert in this arduous and time-honored craft.
Though all four of these events are included in the cost of the weekend, none of them is obligatory. Each guest has the opportunity to pick and choose his or her preferred events a la carte, to create the ideal autumn weekend.
When not out exploring the stunning harvest countryside, guests will enjoy all the creature comforts of the hotel, and the delightful townscape of Crillon le Brave. Bundle up with a book – or enjoy a surprisingly warm Indian summer – on the terrace overlooking the valley below. Take a bicycle out for a spin around the countryside. Enjoy a massage in the intimate, in-house mini-spa. Or wander the cobbled streets of Crillon-le-Brave at this singularly enchanting time of year.
And, of course, there’s the food. Above all, Provence is known for its hearty, rustic foods and its rich, earthy wines. Whether you spend your free time exploring the nearby towns and villages, or turn yourself over entirely to the Hotel’s expert kitchen staff, you will experience the glories of Provençal cuisine at its very finest.
